Research Topics
Gr.3 Manufacturing Systems
Research on manufacturing systems related to engineering materials is being extensively conducted.
Recently, our research focus is moving from metallic materials to advanced composites. For example, carbon nanotubes reinforced aluminum wire rods with high conductivity have been fabricated. Multilayer composite sheets composed of thin metallic face sheets and topologically optimized 3D carbon fiber reinforced plastics core structures have been designed and fabricated. Topology optimization has been adopted for the design of 3D core structures with high stiffness and good formability, which has been evaluated by finite element methods.
